Spurs Seeking Summer Sale
Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly prepared to part ways with Sergio Reguilon for a reduced price this summer. After a couple of loan stints last season, the club is eager to transfer him permanently and is willing to consider offers in the region of £10 million. With only one year remaining on Reguilon’s contract, the upcoming transfer window presents the last opportunity for Spurs to recoup a substantial amount for the player.
Financial Hit on Reguilon’s Departure
The North London club is facing a significant loss on their investment in Reguilon, who was acquired for £32 million, including add-ons, from Real Madrid in 2020. Should they accept the £10 million offer, Spurs would incur a loss of over £20 million on the Spanish left-back.
Reguilon’s Fall from Grace
Reguilon, 27, initially secured a spot as a regular starter for Tottenham but has since found it challenging to maintain his position in the team. Deemed surplus to requirements on several occasions, he spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Atletico Madrid, where he made only a dozen appearances. Prior to that, he had loan spells at Manchester United and Brentford, where he displayed some promising performances.
Spurs’ Striker Search Continues
At the other end of the pitch, Tottenham’s quest to find a replacement for Harry Kane persists. After an unsuccessful attempt last season, the club has reportedly set their sights on Santiago Gimenez and Ivan Toney as potential acquisitions for the upcoming season.
