JUAN FOYTH may have played his last game for Tottenham Hotspur after reportedly suffering a serious knee injury.
The Argentine has been out-of-favour since the arrival of Jose Mourinho and has been linked with moves away from North London.
Having already found first-team opportunities limited, Foyth, 22, appears to have had his season KO’d by his latest injury set back.
According to TNT Sports, the ten-cap defender suffered a meniscus injury in last week’s behind-closed-doors friendly defeat to Norwich City.
He has been in contact with national team boss Lionel Scaloni and doctor Daniel Martinez and may even require surgery.
Foyth had looked set for a big year last summer, but suffered his first blow when an ankle injury sustained in the pre-season Audi Cup saw him miss the beginning of the campaign.
He eventually returned in time to feature in Mauricio Pochettino’s final two games in charge.
But following Mourinho’s arrival he has played just 45 minutes of league football, being hooked at half time at Carrow Road back in December.
He has since failed to even make the substitutes’ bench in the Premier League, finding himself fall behind academy graduate Japhet Tanganga in the process.
Foyth has made 32 appearances in total since joining from Estudiantes in 2017, and has admitted that his future may lie elsewhere as he craves regular game time.
He said: “You always want to play to feel like a player and feel good. It isn’t easy not to play either.
“But I don’t know, we have to wait now for the transfer window to open.
“If I am going to have opportunities here, I will be very comfortable. And if they won’t count on me, the best thing will be to find another club.
“I would like to stay in Europe, all leagues have a high level.”
It is believed that Foyth won’t be short of suitors, with Barcelona even having been linked with a shock interest – as well as fellow Argentine Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.
