Tottenham working on forward signing and deal edging close

Tottenham are closing in on the signing of a new striker, Football Insider understands.

The London giants have made multiple enquiries in recent weeks as they look to provide cover and competition up front for main man Harry Kane.

Jose Mourinho has been in contact with Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson over a potential deal and tentative talks have been held with Napoli front man Arkadiusz Milik.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Tottenham are “balancing” a number of potential forward signings and are confident of bringing one in ahead of the new season.

There is a growing possibility a deal can be secured next week to follow the senior captures of midfielder Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Spurs have also strengthened their youth ranks with the capture of midfielder Alfie Devine from Wigan Athletic.

Jose Mourinho is open to a number of possibilities as Spurs look to keep costs down to a minimum in the wake of their matchday revenues being significantly hit by the pandemic.

A loan signing, or loan with a view to a permanent signing later in the season or next summer, is one firm option.

Tottenham initially signed Giovani Lo Celso on loan last summer before converting him into a permanent signing in January.

Mourinho and Spurs chief Daniel Levy will hope to exploit clubs keen to cash in on their forward signings.

In other news, it can be revealed that Tottenham have accepted a new seven-figure bid for one of their players.
