Manchester City continue their defense of their Continental Cup title on Sunday when they welcome Sunderland to the Academy Stadium.
City beat Chelsea in a dramatic final last season and made a strong start to this season’s campaign with a comprehensive win over Blackburn.
They face a Sunderland side who were narrowly beaten by Liverpool in their opening group stage match but have struggled for form in the league so far.

Gareth Taylor named a highly rotating squad for City’s final Continental Cup group game against Blackburn, and he could do the same on Sunday.
Sunderland gave Liverpool a good run in their opening Continental Cup group game, only losing by a single goal. However, they have won just one of their nine league outings this season, and taking points away from Man City will be a big ask.
City have won six on the bounce, conceding just once in that time. Even if they rotate their squad, they will be expected to make light work of Sunderland.
