Yesterday afternoon at Villa Park, Arsenal played their final Women’s Super League game before the winter break, securing a strong win against Aston Villa at Villa Park (see full report from party).

Villa took the lead in the first 10 minutes of the game. Arsenal then conceded an own goal, courtesy of Corsie de Villa, which drew our Gunners 1-1. Within minutes, Miedema scored our first goal proper, bringing our Gunners to the scoreboard. 1-2 when we went into the break.

In the 60th minute, Katie McCabe hit a shot that went straight past Hannah Hampton for Arsenal’s goal number 3. Nobbs put Arsenal’s fourth goal into the back of the net 12 minutes after coming off the bench. Final result Aston Villa 1 – 4 Arsenal. Watch the featured video here:

This win moves Arsenal into second place in the Barclays WSL standings after Manchester United managed just a point against Manchester City in a 1-1 draw yesterday afternoon. Chelsea defeated Reading at a very snowy Kings Meadow last night, with Reading fighting back and scoring 2 goals against the reigning WSL champions, but a final score of 3-2 to Chelsea secured them 3 points keeping- them at the top of the WSL (but having played one game more than our Gunners).

What did you think of the game? Nice to see our Gunners get more than one goal in the back of the net!
