Watch as Bernardo Silva REFUSES to clap for Liverpool in Etihad guard of honour… and Man City fans love it

BERNARDO SILVA sent Manchester City fans into hysterics after refusing to clap for Liverpool in their guard of honour.

Reds skipper Jordan Henderson led his troops out as all but one of the Etihad stars applauded the new kings.

After sitting on the English throne for two years, Manchester City handed over the baton to rivals Liverpool – and did so in classy fashion at the Etihad.

Clubs do not have to give a guard of honour, but the Etihad chose to do so to show respect for the new champions – who won’t lift the trophy until their final home game against Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola, his players came out first and lined up – socially distanced – to form a guard of honour for the new kings to walk through.

The Etihad stars joined in the respectful, albeit far-from-enthusiastic, clap as the Reds strutted through with their heads held high.

And while Phil Foden bowed the table toppers, eagle-eyed fans spotted Silva taking a slightly different approach.

The midfield maestro’s expression was stone cold, he refused to clap and at one point he even cheekily took a swig of water.

The Reds went onto lose 4-0 and the clip has sent social media into meltdown, sparking contrasting reactions from both sets of fans.

One Cityzen supporter wrote: “Thrashing them 4nil was the perfect guard of honour. Congrats Bernardo you did it the right way.”

Guardiola promised they would do the guard of honour last week.

He said: “Of course we are going to do it. We are going to do the guard of honour of course.

“Always we receive Liverpool when they come to our house in an incredible way. They cannot complain and of course we are going to do it because they deserve it.”

After the final whistle, the City boss joked Liverpool “had drank a lot of beers in the last week” in celebrating the title.

But while the Merseysiders may have been suffering a slight hangover after their celebrations, Guardiola insisted they are still “remarkable champions”.

Klopp wasn’t in such good spirits after his side’s trip to the Etihad and was in fiery form in his post-match interview.

A number of times the Reds coach insisted he did not understand the question, before launching into a rebuttal against the reporter when asked about his side missing early chances.
