West Ham face January problem as Tottenham could make ‘surprise’ £8.6m bid for 25-yo

Tottenham could make a ‘surprise’ €10m (£8.6m) bid for West Ham United transfer target Marcus Thuram in January.

That’s according to football journalist Ignazio Genuardi, who claims a “surprise” move to Tottenham for the 25-year-old striker this winter cannot be ruled out.

It’s obviously very bad news for West Ham.

Hammers boss David Moyes reportedly wants to bring the French striker to the London Stadium.

It now appears that Tottenham are ready to press ahead with their interest in Thuram. It could be available for as little as €10m (£8.6m), according to German publication BILD.

It’s an incredible bargain, and Moyes should be there.

Unfortunately for us, it looks like we might be beaten to the punch…

Tottenham are preparing a January bid for West Ham target Marcus Thuram

Ignazio Genuardi claims a surprise move to Spurs for the Borussia Monchengladbach striker in the January transfer window cannot be ruled out:

Courted by a host of European sides, Mr # Thuram could wait until next summer to pack his bags, but a surprise this winter cannot be ruled out. According to some rumours, #Tottenham could try this in January. #Market

Antonio Conte beating David Moyes to Thuram would be a huge blow for the Hammers in my opinion.

He is a top striker, and to see him plying his trade at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium rather than the London Stadium would be very hard to take.

The 25-year-old has been described as a “sensational” player by scouting, statistics and analytics website Total Football Analysis.

Meanwhile, Get Football News Germany describes him as a “world-class” striker, quite a compliment!

Thuram has blistering pace and can play anywhere in the front line. He has scored 13 goals and four assists in 17 games for Gladbach so far this season (Transfermarkt).

The six-capped France international is a truly explosive forward and is a constant threat to opposing defenders.

His exceptional pace and movement would offer West Ham a completely different facet to our attacking play.

However, if Tottenham make a January bid for Thuram, the Hammers will have a real fight on our hands for the Frenchman’s signature.
