Two-Match Ban Adds to Existing Suspension
West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus has been handed an extended suspension until December following a two-match ban for his actions during a heated match against Tottenham Hotspur. The Ghanaian winger was shown a red card after a violent outburst that has now cost him several crucial games.
Details of the Incident
During the fiery London derby last month, Kudus kicked out at Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven, striking him in the face. The incident escalated as he also knocked down Richarlison and shoved midfielder Pape Matar Sarr. Initially receiving a yellow card, a subsequent VAR review led to the decision being upgraded to a red.
Consequences of the Ban
As a result of the red card, Kudus will miss the final game of his initial three-match suspension against Everton this weekend, along with upcoming fixtures against Newcastle and Arsenal after the international break. His first match back is scheduled for December 3 against Leicester City.
Financial Penalties and Apology
Kudus has also been fined £90,000 for his actions. In light of the situation, he accepted the charge without contesting it and expressed remorse in a letter, stating he felt “embarrassed.” He cited the challenges of balancing international duty with the pressures of social media as factors contributing to his behaviour.

Club Fines for Improper Conduct
West Ham United has been fined £30,000 for failing to control their players during the incident, while Tottenham Hotspur has received a £20,000 fine for their involvement in the melee. The repercussions of this match will be felt on both sides as they navigate the aftermath of the confrontation.
