Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos should have been sent off for his altercation with Celtic captain Scott Brown on Saturday, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Aberdeen and Leeds United forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that the Morelos, 24, was “petulant” and “childish” in the first Old Firm clash of the season.
The Colombian slapped Brown on the back of the head but avoided punishment from referee John Beaton.
Morelos has been sent off twice in his previous 13 Old Firm appearances, including a red in last season’s fixture at Celtic Park.
In his 150 appearances for the Gers he has been sent off seven times despite never seeing red for Colombia or previous clubs HJK Helsinki or Independiente Medellin.
Whelan fears that Morelos is allowing bad habits to creep back into his game.
